so what if he is FT in another country ? im also FT in japan for the past 7 years , and im doing fine here . most importantly , singaporean who chose to stay overseas must think like the local and blend into their culture .

No problem on that and I think it is great for Singaporeans to become FT elsewhere. And you are right, when we are overseas, we must think like the local and blend into their culture. I actually encourage Singaporeans to work overseas but as you say, they must blend into their culture with great sensitivity.
However, whether we like it or not, many of the locals will look upon "FT" as foreign intruders, just like many Singaporeans are beginning to dislike FT here. This is especially so when jobs become scarce with a contracting economy. This is further complicated by racial differences. It is a common social problems for any countries to have lax FT policy.
It will take a great personality to disarm such initial ill feelings in work place.
