Why do they care if the m249 falls into Taliban hands? Is it top secret? They can only hope it does fall into the hands of the taliban. If it gives the Taliban as much problem as it gives them, they will be happy. Cost has nothing to do with it. If cost was a factor, the whole Afghan army would have stuck to AK-47s, much cheaper than M4s.

m249 have many problems? but m249 is much more accurate than the PK though PK a more rugged weapon. I admit i also surprise why afghan army switch to the M16/M4 when AK47 is a better suited weapon. Can only speculated that the afghan army discard the Kalnishkov to distinguish them from taliban fighters.

did u notice the chinese looking man in the commando unit? so it truth that afghan army actively recruit from Tajiks to bostler their ranks. No wonder till now afghan national army still not respected by the civilians who distrust the northern tribes who "cooperated" with the soviets in the 70s.
