SINGAPORE: A former teacher has pleaded guilty to having consensual sex with her former student.
The 32-year-old woman, who cannot be named, admitted that she had consensual sex with the boy twice, when he was 13 years old.
The first offence was committed in Sembawang Park in May 2011, while the second was committed at her home in July 2011.
At the time of the offences, the woman was 31 years old.
Court documents showed that the two met when she was teaching in Primary 6.
The boy, a repeat student, would tell the teacher about his schoolmates who were smoking outside of school.
She bought him a bottle of perfume as a reward.
They grew closer and started dating.
This continued until the accused turned herself in after the school principal asked her to write a report defining her relationship with the boy.
The ex-teacher faces a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine for having sex with a minor.

The teacher, who is married with three children, and the boy were sexually intimate a total of six times between May and July 2011 before she confessed her crimes.
On Monday, the teacher, now 32, pleaded guilty in court to two counts of sexual intercourse with the underage boy. Four other similar charges will be taken into consideration during sentencing on March 14. It is a criminal offence to have sex with anyone below 16 years old. This is the third reported case of female teachers having sex with underage students. The teacher and the school cannot be named to protect the boy's identity.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Grace Lim told the court on Monday that the boy failed his Primary School Leaving Examination in 2010 and had to repeat Primary 6. He joined the woman's class in 2011 and they became close after he voluntarily informed her about some students who smoked outside the school. The fair-complexioned, bespectacled woman gave him a bottle of perfume as a reward.
DPP Lim said the teacher, who had given her mobile phone number to the students in her class, exchanged text messages with the boy more frequently compared to the other students. They became attracted to each other in March and the following month they arranged to watch a movie in Yishun after school.
A day before they met, the teacher claimed, the boy text messaged her to ask her to teach him to kiss. She replied that she could not teach him but she could show him how. After the movie, they went to the highest floor of Northpoint Shopping Centre, also in Yishun, where there was a playground. When the boy mentioned the subject again, she told him he could kiss her. He kissed her on the cheek, then the lips.
On their way home in a taxi, the teacher French kissed the boy after he asked her why no tongue was involved in their earlier kiss. After this, she told the boy that he could become her boyfriend. He started calling her "darling" while he was her "baby". The court heard that sometime in May the couple went to Sembawang Park after school. They hugged and kissed in a shelter that resembled a hut. The accused claimed the boy told her he couldn't take it any more and wanted to have sex. They then had unprotected sex.

After she collected the food, she gave it to the first person she saw because it would have been too obvious if she had given the food to her lover.
When she returned to the class, he asked her about the food. She told him what had happened and he flew into a rage. He threw a stack of worksheets, her water bottle and a chair at her in front the class. He also pushed her table towards her. The court heard that she was unable to sleep that night as she felt guilty. Instead of going to work the next day, she went to her church and told her pastor about the affair. She later told her husband to meet her there and they were driven to the school where she confessed to the principal. After that, the vice-principal drove the couple to Woodlands Neighbourhood Police Centre where she made a report about the affair.
She was arrested at 7.25pm that day.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Monday that the teacher had been suspended since the investigation started in 2011. Its spokesman said MOE will take disciplinary proceedings with a view to dismissing the teacher from service when the court proceedings are over.
The ministry added that it takes a serious view of educator misconduct and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action to uphold the high professional standards of the education service.
The woman, who is represented by lawyer Ravinderpal Singh, will return to court on March 14 for mitigation and sentencing. For each count of having sexual intercourse with a minor, the teacher can be jailed up to 10 years and fined.
