逢甲夜市可說是台灣名聲最大的夜市，人潮也帶錢潮，據財政部統計，2016年夜市繳稅王冠軍，就是台中的逢甲夜市，年繳近1億。不過現卻傳出泡沫化的現象，不但有娃娃機店進駐，甚至屹立10多年商場內的待租店家數居高不下，房東自砍房租仍舊租不出去，也讓不少人感慨今非昔比。

過去逢甲商圈被不少業者視為錢潮，光在2016年，逢甲夜市就為國庫進帳了9300萬的稅金。但昔日逢甲商圈「一店難求」的局面，現在卻充斥著「待租」的情況。據《蘋果日報》報導，逢甲商圈最具指標性的4個商場，拓程、歡樂星、碧根陽光、屋台街，待租店家增多，就算將租金一路調降，仍舊乏人問津。
有店家指出，店租一路從4萬慢慢調降到1萬，商場店位的出租情形才穩定了下來，但進駐的多半還是工作室或是網拍業者，「看起來還是相當冷清」；而近年才風光開幕的拓程商場，也是因閒置店位過多，去年乾脆收攤，分租給寶雅、寵物公園。
至於為何會出現這樣的狀況？據了解，這幾年，逢甲商圈店家平均營業額減少了2成左右，人潮減少、客人看多買少，這些都是主因，而這也影響了店租，許多房東為了不要讓店位閒置，還自砍一成租金，依舊無法挽回頹勢，商場店家零散，二樓以上樓層多是「關門大吉」，讓遊客更不想來。

高雄六合夜市風光一時，因為陸客團興盛又衰退的關係，近年高價坑殺遊客的負面新聞頻傳，生意大不如前，近日連夜市地標、唯一一家蛇肉老店都宣布歇業。一名香港遊客指出，六合夜市生意差，自己也要檢討，夜市裡攤商不夠多元化，怎麼逛都是同類型的店，特色不夠多才會失去遊客。

馬政府時代開放不少陸客來台觀光，許多店家為了做陸客生意，開始調整經營策略、拉高售價；後來陸客大幅衰退，生意大不如前，許多商家直接怪罪政府，同時間許多台灣人趁陸客少去逛，卻頻頻傳出被當肥羊宰的事件，因此一度與墾丁、士林夜市被封為「坑人三寶」。
根據《中時電子報》報導，一名香港遊客逛完六合夜市，認為這裡的攤商確實不吸引人，他表示燒烤、炸物的店家在香港也很多，所以來到台灣，他只買胡椒餅、臭豆腐等台灣特有小吃，偏偏整個六合夜市都是燒烤、炸物店，一名攤販老闆甚至指出，在夜市全盛期至少40、50家類似的店，怎麼逛都是差不多的店，因此才無法生存。
