Tuan, Agree.

I am not surprised with the meagre compensation.

Just look at how they mercilessly locked up OUR hard earned Cpf money !

wow, compensation less than Teo CH's 2 weeks' salary leh. So generous.

Should compensate the family by confiscating the annual bonus of all officers involved, from supervising officer all the way up to defence minister. Then they will wake up their idea on training safety.

Use 6 smoke grenades in an enclosed space? They think is street battle ah? Trying to choke the poor soldiers to death. Same like the drowning of commando trainee a few years back, also under Teo CH watch.

Smoke grenades are nothing compared to being confined in a room with tear gas thrown in.:mad:

Private Dominique Sarron Lee, 21, died on April 17 after he experienced breathing difficulties during a training exercise at the Murai Urban Training Facility in Lim Chu Kang.

Inside info: They were having FIBUA (fighting in built-up area) training and were happily throwing smoke grenades by the dozens. This guy had a supposedly 'rare' allergic reaction to zinc chloride (a chemical found in most smoke grenades) and soon was having breathing difficulties, then he died.

Aftermath: Mindef 'transferred out' all the officers and instructors involved in this incident, and imposed a ban on the usage of all smoke grenades for training until a safer alternative is found.

---

Typical of the nation-building press to omit all the important details and make it seem as though the boy's asthma suddenly flared up during a normal training session. That's not journalism, that's being the PR department of SAF/Mindef.

And this is one of the many reasons why I despise NS and this govt. Pathetic.

There are lots of people still hoping to rely on CPF.
Best for them to write it off and, instead, have several hundred k in cash savings.

Alternatively, give up the useless pink IC.

A regular of equivalent rank should earn about $2500+ a month? *shakes head*

NS is killing Singaporeans for nothing. :oIo:

So the family of the 3rd SGT is expected to be compensated about S$30K + for the lost of his life.

And even less for the Pte. :*:

Yesterday, the Australian government apologised for sexual abuse within the Australian Defence Force.

http://www.smh.com.au/national/defe...gation-findings-to-police-20121126-2a3mk.html

Mr Smith said the independent taskforce, headed by Len Roberts-Smith QC, would determine if individuals should receive compensation of up to $50,000, counselling, restorative justice or referral to the police or military police.

In his apology, Mr Smith said in the Parliament: ''To those men and women in the Australian Defence Force or the Department of Defence who have suffered sexual or other forms of abuse, on behalf of the government, I say sorry.''

Compensation of up to A$50k for those who suffered sexual abuse in the ADF.

Why can't the 超级白 be more generous for the lost of life??

The 超级白 only know how to pay millions for their own and their cronies. WTF!!

Any 超级白 said sorry?

Since there are no protests or strikes by NSFs and NSmen, I surmise that most SGreans are very happy with the current state of affairs or at least until they encounter misfortune personally. It cannot be that 200 PRCs can unite to demand for better conditions but thousands of SGreans are unable to do the same.

Every S'porean is for himself or herself. If ill fortune happens to them or members of their family they will simply handle it. Otherwise they will heck care about the rest.
