In what is believed to be a rare court decision, a 29-year-old engineer has been fined S$4,000 for taking a video clip up a woman's skirt with his camera phone.
MediaCorp understands that since 2000, those found guilty of committing the offence are usually jailed between two and four weeks.
Chong Kim Hong recorded the video clip at around 7.45pm inside Kinokuniya bookstore at Bugis Junction on 4 May 2008.
The 31-year-old woman spotted him doing so and alerted her boyfriend.
Police were notified and Chong was arrested.
In mitigation, Chong's lawyer, Josephus Tan, told the court that his client was remorseful and that the entire judicial process had taught him "a very bitter lesson".
Chong was also a first-time offender.
For committing the offence, he could have been jailed up to one year, fined or both.
He is sooo lucky even after seeing the lady's underwear...
