MELAKA: A BMW car driver who suffered from a seizure crashed into nine other vehicles, causing six injuries at a traffic light in Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Ayer Keroh, here, last night.

Melaka Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department, Superintendent Amran @ Mohamad Zaki Omar said the 9.14pm incident occurred as the victims were waiting at the traffic intersection at Taman Chiptaco in front of a supermarket, here.

He said the initial investigation found that while waiting for the traffic light to turn green, the 38-year-old BMW driver was said to have suffered a seizure which inadvertently caused him to press the oil pedal.

This saw the car skidding before colliding with several other vehicles that had stopped ahead of his vehicle.

"The driver was later believed to have suffered another seizure again, causing a second crash.

"Ten vehicles were involved in the accident, causing injuries to six drivers and passengers aged between 20 and 73, apart from the BMW driver who also suffered injuries," he said today.

He said the nine vehicles involved in the crash were two Perodua Myvi, Honda Jazz, Perodua Kenari, Perodua Viva, Perodua Alza, Toyota Corolla Altis, Nissan Frontier and a Proton Persona.

"All the victims, including the woman driver of a Perodua Kenari who suffered a broken nose, were treated at the Melaka Hospital.

"Investigations are being carried out under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
