This was the moment a brazen thief shoved an 89-year-old woman to the ground before stealing her handbag with 500 yuan (HK$600) inside.
The man robbed the pensioner as she walked along a corridor at a mall on Wo Kwai Lane in Kwai Chung on Saturday morning.
In shocking CCTV footage shared on Facebook today, the frail woman, aided by a walking stick, is seen shuffling slowly towards a restaurant bathroom before she is attacked.
As she approaches, the thief pushes her to the floor before grabbing her handbag and running back along the corridor. [The thief runs away with the woman’s handbag. Photo: Facebook]
Moments before, he is seen lingering with a green bag while hunched over, seemingly preparing his assault.
The victim was taken to hospital with head injuries following the robbery at 10.15am.
Police detectives were tonight hunting for a long-haired man, 5’6”, aged about 40 years old, in connection with the attack.
He was wearing a blue, long-sleeved shirt and grey jogging bottoms at the time of the assault, police said.
