Do we want foreign-born winners?

If the New Zealand Olympic team can obtain gold medals without a single 'foreign talent' in their team, I don't see how it would be impossible for Singapore to do so as well, given the similarity of population size in both countries. Difficult yes, but not impossible.

Those who advocate the bringing in of foreign talent just because 'other countries are doing it as well' are simply taking the easy way out. If our local talent pool at present is too small to produce Olympic gold-medal winners, then so be it. Better training and a more conducive sporting culture should be introduced instead of spending taxpayers' money on such foreign imports.

YES NO?
The true Singapore blood does not flow in any of the three players

sporean who complain about this, should compete in the next olympics...simple as that...lol...

but then again, to have a true singapore blood, the players must not be intimidated by Party Chairman Mr. Hu's stares and go for the Gold instead of Silver...lol..

actually, if you look at the olympic standings....

countries which fared well, with the exception of China and Russia have immigration policies or are places where immigrants go to...

China 44 14 19
United States 26 26 27
Great Britain 16 10 10
Russia 12 14 18
Australia 11 12 12

Yao ming play the NBA because he is valued as a player and that is his career. By the way , Yao Ming play for the China Basketball team in the Olympic. Not USA basketball team.

NBA and Olympic is 2 different thing. NBA is a job, Olympic is for the glory of his country that HE IS BORN IN

Agree. NBA is a league, not a nation.
