More women own iPhones than men, while men are more likely to own a Huawei handset, new research has found

Women are more likely to own an iPhone than men, while men are the primary customers of Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei, new research has found.
Apple's smartphone operating system iOS is also used by some 16 per cent of adults with internet access, compared to rival Google's Android's 54 per cent, according to data from GlobalWebIndex.
Research into how the world’s population revealed that between Android and iOS, around 18 per cent of women and 17 per cent of men used Apple’s system.
The Californian company enjoys the best engagement rates in established markets such as the USA, Australia, Japan and Canada, but has significantly lower levels in countries including Argentina, Poland and India. The report found that use of iOS increases in line with income, and that Apple performs more strongly among higher income consumers compared with Android.
Android is more widely used than iOS in all 32 territories the research covered, which GlobalWebIndex claims covers around 90 per cent of the global internet audience. Almost 70 per cent of users in China and South Korea used Android, followed closely by Hong Kong.
Women were more likely than men to download photo, networking and messaging apps, sports and business apps had a higher probability of being downloaded by men.
Separate research from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech conducted last year found that men aged between 16 - 24 were the most likely consumers to rush out and buy the newly-released iPhone 6.
Women are also marginally more likely than women to own iPads, with the ratio of iPad ownership compared to an Android-running tablet at 1:4 compared to 1:6.
