There is market talk that some enterprising foreigners rent condos, not one but more than one, to use the premises as private hostels to accommodate foreign students and act as their guardians. Foreign domestic maids are also provided. How did MOM get involved in this business?
In each condo, shared by many as 10 ten students, each student pays a few thousand dollars per month to the "guardian" for accommodation, private tuition, maid services, etc. The market talk is that the business is booming because many foreign students are here alone without their families.
Are the URA and the property owners aware but just closing their eyes? Is this business legal? I would like to start one if it is indeed legal.
