JBJ's fight was largely with LKY. He even singled out LKY many times in many things that he said.
Did he have a point (or points) to drum home all this while? Of course!
Even in JBJ's his death, I don't see LKY openly achknowledging JBJ for what little he has stood for and the sacrifices he was wlling to make to drive home the message of the apparent lack of real democracy in Singapore.
All quiet from the MM's office. Not a word. Not a letter of condolence.
Either LKY must be sighing sighs of relief, or he must be worried shitless as to when his turn might come.
Death has no favours. It comes for everyone. It's only then when each of us must reflect before a greater power the deeds we have done during our tenure here.

Same tree may not produce the same quality fruits!. The old tree is upright, tough & unbending, being through all weather conditions and survived even being 'burned' down.

Dear Lee Hsien Loong, Hsien Yang and Wei Ling,
I was sad to learn that your father, Mr Harry Lee Kuan Yew, has passed away. Mr Lee was a prolific politician and arguably regarded as the founding father of modern singapore. We never had the opportunity to engage in a fair debate whether in- or outside parliament, though he has on many occasions boasted of his loquacity.
Perhaps it was because he and the intelligent singaporeans never saw eye to eye on any major political issue and he sought by all means to oppress and subjugate all free-thinking citizens of singapore. Unfortunately, this helped neither to build up a strong nation nor a healthy democracy. Nevertheless, one had to respect Mr Lee's dogged tenacity to be active in politics till his deathbed.
Please accept my deepest condolences.

This letter is not necessary. When LKY dies, his sons and daughter are not there with him anymore....... He outlives all of them and remain a lonelee man !! No friends, no foes, and no love ones.

I don't even think its any form of condolence. Raking up past issues that don't even relate to the man's passing makes it very clear, that our friend who penned the letter has tendency to veer off-course.
He is going to say, that he did not see what was written & just sign the letter!.

The reason they continue doing this is because we continue to reward them for it. By voting for them again and again because of our petty fears we send the message to them that what they are doing is ok, that they do not have to consider our feelings and well-being when they make policy and insult those dear to us.
