A year after violent strikes, Colombia's farmers are preparing to take action again because of the government's perceived failure to keep promises it made to them.

Farmers complain that a lack of subsidies, high production costs and the country's free trade agreements have damaged the agricultural industry.

With presidential elections just weeks away, the government fears the strikes could seriously impact the outcome of the vote.

Al Jazeera's Alessandro Rampietti reports from Guasca.
