CNB seizes more than $103,000 worth of drugs

SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested a suspected drug syndicate leader and three other drug offenders after a drug operation on Tuesday (Dec 8).
According to a press statement by CNB, more than $103,000 worth of drugs were seized. These include more than 900g of heroin, about 400g of psychotropic drugs like 'Ice' and ketamine and about 90 'Ecstasy' tablets. Three digital weighing scales and an improvised drug-smoking apparatus were also recovered.
On Tuesday evening, CNB officers observed a rider of a Malaysia-registered motorcyle entering a unit along Hamilton Road at about 7.11pm and leaving 15 minutes later.
CNB officers tailed the rider and stopped the motorcycle at the junction of Jalan Besar and Lavender Street. Officers searched the 43-year-old male Malaysian rider and recovered Erimin-5 tablets from him. $6,000 was also recovered from a bag that the man was carrying.
Meanwhile, another group of CNB officers raided the unit along Hamilton Road, where they arrested a 55-year-old Singaporean man believed to be the drug syndicate leader.
The same evening, CNB officers arrested a 37- year-old Singaporean man, who is a suspected associate of the 55-year-old man. Another 55- year-old Singaporean man who is a suspected drug abuser was also nabbed.
Investigations into the drug activities of the four suspects are ongoing.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, those found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine, which is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 180 abusers for a week, face the death penalty.
