SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 83 suspected drug offenders and seized drugs worth about S$68,500 during an islandwide operation.

The drugs seized included about 600 grammes of heroin, 18 grammes of 'Ice' and 245 Erimin-5 tablets.

The anti-drug bust from September 10 to 12 covered places such as Balestier, Toa Payoh, Bedok, Geylang, Changi, Sims Avenue, Jurong West and Telok Blangah.

Among those arrested are two male Singaporeans, aged 54 and 49.

They were caught on September 10 in Geylang for suspected drug trafficking.

The duo is believed to have been pushing heroin in the Geylang area.

An assortment of drugs worth more than S$9,600 was seized.

Two digital weighing scales were also recovered from this operation.

Both suspects are being investigated for drug trafficking.

A suspected drug client of the duo was also arrested in the vicinity for drug abuse.

In another operation launched on September 11, CNB officers arrested two male Singaporeans, aged 52 and 41, for suspected drug trafficking and seized about 500 grammes of heroin, estimated to be worth about S$52,000.

CNB officers trailed the 52-year-old man, who's believed to be a drug distributor.

He was seen leaving his residence to meet with his suspected drug client, a 41-year-old male Singaporean who arrived in a lorry around Telok Blangah Drive.

CNB said the two met briefly and left.

Shortly after, officers arrested the 52-year-old suspect.

He then led officers to his residence in Telok Blangah Drive, where about 265 grammes of heroin were recovered.

Over at Alexandra Terrace, another team of CNB officers intercepted the lorry driven by the 41-year-old suspect.

The suspect resisted arrest but was eventually subdued.

CNB officers recovered a blue plastic bag from the lorry - containing two envelopes with heroin weighing about 230 grammes.

Both men are being investigated for drug trafficking.
