To his neighbours, he was the friendly owner of FourOneFour, which sold art bags, vases and ceramics from a River Valley shophouse that he had lived in for 10 years.
But Mr Francis Wee Chin Wah, 43, dabbled in drugs – lots of them.
When he died, he had a cocktail of controlled drugs and sex-enhancement pills in him.
A long list of drugs were also seized from the bedroom in his shophouse.
To make it worse, Mr Wee's aged mother found him naked and dead on his bed last September. Tucked under his bed was his male lover, barely alive.
Mr Wee was in a relationship for 21/2 years with his live-in partner, Mr Eric Sin Hoo Kat, 36. The latter survived.
His death mirrored a tragedy just 17 months earlier. A 26-year-old man died after a deadly mix of sex and drugs.
Yesterday, State Coroner Victor Yeo recorded Mr Wee's death as misadventure.
