Clean & cool motorbikes

Yes, these electric bikes are getting bigger and more powerful. Some models coming closer to benzine motorbikes.

My comment is these bikes are too quiet compared to the normal benzine bikes. You cannot hear or feel them coming and all of a sudden, they are beside you. Can be dangerous on the road.

Also, not sure of the insurance coverage on these bikes.

From the perspective of someone who lives near a main road. The silence of these motor bikes is a plus as well as they don't contribute to air pollution. You will of course always have careless drivers who don't look out for motor cyclists.

The Brammo are motor bike replacements, as fast and capable as normal motor cylces. They should never be used on pavements:eek:

Johnny, The silence of these bikes though environment friendly, might not be a good thing. Road users need to have a feel of what is around them and the silence of these bikes can be dangerous. My opinion is for riders of these bikes to pass a test before they are allowed on the road. Sinkee roads are not designed for such bikes and there's a lot of inconsiderate drivers/riders out there. Waiting for more fatal accidents to happen.

Here's a pic of the electric bike shops I mentioned earlier.

I still prefer a benzine powered motorcycle over these electric bikes. At least I know I am covered under insurance.

Edited this. Paiseh. the mobile stall blocked the front of the shop of second pic but can see the signboard.

Any power bicycle/bike should use road not pavement. LTA/TP/Police should change the rule.
They also need to buy insurance maybe only 3rd party price fix at $50/year.
Then only legal electric bike will be on the road. Those illegal without insurance will be fine $1k and bike will be impound until fine paid and sent for inspection.

geylang full of those illegal electric bicycles and used by those old kopitam uncle.
Electric scooter cannot work in singapore, where are you going to find a place to charge it?
I would not buy it even if i have a place to charge it, because it is mostly made in china. I do not trust made in China.

Some of these bikes can be charged using an ordinary AC outlet. City Square Mall the 1st eco mall boasts that they have parking space which have charging points for electricity.

The biggest obstacle I see with this type of technology is that the PAP will not support it & they will actively put obstacles to prohibit it from becoming mainstream. Just look at the 3/4 tank rule the PAP has imposed on Spore vehicles. The PAP makes $$$ from fuel taxes.

The vehicle population is going to increase in Spore & so too is the pollution levels. It's going to impact on the quality of life in Spore.

....

Old tech will of course be cheaper & there are more mechanics familiar with the old stuff. As a Sporean living in this packed sardine can, I can appreciate the advantages of electric bikes.
Just ask anyone who stays near a main road & they will probably agree with me

Honestly speaking, the noise pollution generated from the additional FT brought in create more damages than the motorcycles.
