Chinese national fined for using friend's work permit to enter casino

A Chinese national was fined $2,500 in court yesterday after he attempted to enter the Marina Bay Sands casino by using his friend's work permit on Sept 5.

Wang Depeng, 25, was caught by casino security staff .

Wang, a factory worker who has been working here for 16 months and earns $700 a month, claimed he wanted to take a look at the casino. He said he did not know that what he did was an offence.

As he could not pay the fine, Wang chose to serve the default sentence of a week's jail.
