业内承认:无资质"黑外教"的确不少

选择外教首先要确认其是否有相关资质证书和工作签证,别让“外来和尚”乱“念经”。

记者了解到,即便是学校、培训机构里有资质的外教,也未必都靠谱。为了让孩子从小学好英文,上海妈妈王莹(化名)从两年前就开始聘请兼职外教,两年内请过10名外教,全部来自培训机构和公立学校,7个有资质,即便如此,有的外教也只会 “外” 不会“教”,有的说好来教的,却“放你鸽子”。


有的只会“外”不会“教”

王莹儿子今年5岁半,她一直很重视孩子的英文启蒙教育。一开始,她为孩子报读了一个英文培训机构,但是后来觉得在时间、花费上的性价比都不高,两年前,王莹决定自己在家里请外教。她通过朋友介绍找外教老师,来源锁定在英语培训机构或公立学校的国际部,大多有教学资质。后来,她还约了朋友和亲戚,一起让孩子们“拼班”学外语,很快,对外教的需求增加到两名。

不过,两年来,这两个外教的岗位出现了奇怪的反差。“一位外教一直坚持上课,但另外一位一直在换,现在已经换了第9个”。谈起这9位外教,王莹一肚子苦水要吐。“不同的外教,一本英语书可以教得很厚,也可以教得很薄”,外教的经验和态度差异之大,也让王莹深有感触。“有的外教没有教学经验,态度上也欠认真,似乎觉得就是来教中国孩子说外国话的,简单得很,基本不愿备课。”王莹就接触过这样只会“外”不会“教”的外教。“上课就是照着课本念英文,更谈不上系统性,时间一到,拿好钱就走人”,也有的外教态度认真,但是因为缺乏经验,上课比较无趣。

日常教学中,可以看出外教水平的高低。“讲到颜色的时候,有水平的外教,会把书上没有涉及的颜色都告诉小朋友,而且还会加入日常生活的内容,比如老师会问小朋友:‘房间里有几张红色的椅子?’这样就把数字和颜色融合在了一起。但是有的老师只是照本宣科,书上的单词读完了,就没有其他拓展了,很枯燥,小朋友没兴趣。”

记者在采访中发现,在一些英语培训机构中,也存在这样的情况。曾经有家长向记者抱怨,冲着“全外教”去报读某培训机构,但是外教既不会说中文,也不懂得怎么教英文,做游戏、学英语都是中国助教在手把手地教孩子,外教上课成了摆设。


有的还没上课就消失了

王莹找的外教中,还有3个甚至都没给孩子上过课。“前期沟通好了,等到上课的时候,就消失了。有一位女老师,之前全部联系好了,等到上第一节课,我上课前开车去地铁站接她,可是左等右等等不到人。”

手机不接,短信不回,王莹再通过介绍人联系,还是找不到,结果发现这位女外教所在的学校也同样在找。过一段时间后,大家才知道她已经悄无声息回自己国家了。“放鸽子”的情况并不少。“有位外教,临上课前,打电话来说身体不舒服不来了,第二次约上课,电话就打不通了,再联系上的时候,竟然说不想来了。”想着之前电邮、电话联络,驱车几个小时和老师见面沟通谈教材、上课方式、上课地点的交通、课程进度等等花费的大量时间、精力,王莹哭笑不得,“事先都谈好的,临到上课前轻飘飘一句‘不来了’,毫无责任地空留家长和孩子焦虑、等待。”

“找到好外教,要碰运气”

那位一直合作的外教来自加拿大。“他为人非常好,也很讲信用,每次都很认真地备课,你能看得出来,他不是来玩票的,不只是想赚钱,而是热爱教育,也愿意融入中国家庭中。”两年来,王莹和这位加拿大外教已经成了好朋友,“他邀请我到加拿大玩,我们也邀请他一起在国内玩。”最近,王莹刚刚邀请这位外教去浙江玩,“回上海的时候,我是开车回来的,他和宝宝乘动车,把孩子交给他我完全放心”。

说起这位加拿大外教,王莹赞不绝口,连称自己“撞了大运”。“现在好的外教并不好找,是要碰运气的。”通过两年的实践,王莹认为,目前国内特别是大城市的外教市场供不应求。“外教的工作机会太容易得到了,所以有些人并不会珍惜”。王莹告诉记者,现在上海外教的收入不低,以培训机构为例,月薪可达到12000元到15000元,资深的则在18000元到20000元。

王莹提醒家长,不管是请外教到家中来,还是到培训班上课,不仅要确认外教有相关资质证书和工作签证,还应事先和外教做好沟通和了解,最好外教在一定程度上了解中国文化,并且为人相对诚恳纯朴,这样才能更好地和孩子、家长沟通。

记者走访部分沪上培训机构及学校,外教招聘要查资格证书和警方记录

目前,上海的外教主要分布在英语培训机构以及大、中、小学,这些机构或者学校如何招聘外教?其中是否有审核、筛选机制?记者走访了沪上部分培训机构及高校。

英孚教育中国区教师招聘与培训高级副总裁StephenFarley告诉记者,目前该机构共有英语教师2000多名,外教主要来自美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、英国和南非。目前的招聘途径主要还是海外渠道,包括各类教育展会、招聘会和社交媒体等。该机构要求所有的外教首先符合中国规定的相关工作资格,包括拥有TEFL资格证书、本科及以上学历、相关教学工作经验。

为确保教学水平及相关品格,StephenFarley表示,该机构还会采取第三方背景调查,比如通过公共途径,获得应聘者所有公开的警方记录和证书资格认证确认,并要求参加并获得TKT剑桥教师资格证书。最终,外教的录取率约为4%。针对流动性较大的问题,英孚与外教签订第一次为一年的教学合同,在这一年中,外教将通过三次授课考察评估、通过三次绩效考核才可以继续留任。
