Wa lau!!! Service charge cost more than $300 equivalent to many times of buffet. Daylight robbery PAP style. This is equivalent to a medical bill, except that PAP will add in the word "subsidy" after totalling the bill to make them feel good they are not overcharging the patient.

Yes, the bill shows 20 persons, and unit price seems ok. There is also hard liquor and a lot of crabs and squid ordered. The final bill 3k plus but the credit card shows 5k plus. And both void sales. There has be more to this story. More like someone used a stolen card and then got cash back as well as the liquor from a wiling staff. The void sales is also indicative of this.

I think the friend story is far fetched.

The bill says its for 20 pax, no? Still exorbitant dining though.

2 large plates of hong kong kai lan costs $72? 2x union cucumber $50? 2x spinach tofu $72? made of gold ah? tonychat the vegetarian should take a look.

i think the only reasonable charge is the towel at 30 cents each.

Hong Kong kai lan is probably kai lan from China ...and we all know that the highly carcinogenic water used for agriculture in China means that the vegetables are full of substances that will gradually kill you.

The restaurant has the audacity to charge for peanuts and towels after charging an arm and a leg for the food!

void sale is when you have charged the credit card X amount and now want to refund the card with X amount.

thats why the amount is - $ xxxx

there are 2 copies because one is merchant copy and one is customer copy

of course im no god potificator, so don't take my word as gospel as one is suppose to with god pontificators....

Also, the time on the credit card charged is 6 minutes before the bill was totalled. One is at 20.34 and the other at 20.40. Charge bfore knowing total?

Void sales becoz the credit card over limit !

That is the point that i was making. Something does not add up. Why the bill does not match the card slip.

The void slip was a charge-back after the diner disputed the bill and CFJ reduced the bill.

$3,900 bill was for 20 pax: CEO of Clarke Quay restaurant

A diner had questioned the cost of the $3,900 bill in a Facebook post that went viral. The CEO of the restaurant clarified the cost of the items and a staff error in the original $5,000 bill.

Roger Koh, CEO of Chen Fu Ji, has clarified about the Facebook post questioning the hefty bill that was charged to a diner at his restaurant.

He told Lianhe Wanbao that the initial $5,900 charge was an error made by his staff. Instead of keying in "2" for quantity, "22" was keyed in. The staff refunded the difference in cash when the customer highlighted the error.

The recalculated bill of $3,922.70 was for a dinner catered to 20 diners. He explained that the cost of $80 for Pu'Er tea was charged at $4 each for 20 people, while the cost of $180 for fried rice was for 12 portions.

Woman gets served $5,900 bill after dining at Clarke Quay restaurant
Stomp

A woman, supposedly a tourist, was served a bill amounting to close to $5,900 after a seafood meal at a Clarke Quay restaurant. Even after she disputed the bill, it still came up to almost $4,000.

The photo of the woman's receipts has been circulating on Facebook along with a description in Chinese. She had dined at the restaurant on Thursday (April 25).

It mentions that the woman questioned the staff why two plates of fried squid could cost $704 while one person's share of Pu'Er tea could cost $80. The woman also disputed the cost of a portion of fried rice that was listed at $180 on the bill, and four crabs for $812.

The woman also wrote that she was furious and told the staff she wanted to sue them. They then recalculated the bill and it still came up to $3,922.70.

Facebook users left comments on the post, with some lambasting the restaurant, and others trying to decode the bill.

One said in Chinese that perhaps the quantity entered had been wrong, and the tea was actually $4 a person instead of $80, while the fried squid was only $2.90 and the fried rice was $15 a portion, seeing that there were 20 diners at that time.

Another also commented that because there were 20 diners who ate the following dishes hence the final bill was close to $4,000 inclusive of service charge and taxes. The person also calculated that the average amount per person was less than $140 and the initial bill of $5,893.45 was due to a touch screen error that showed the fish as $2,000 and was subsequently corrected.
