Upon learning that 387,000 Singaporeans are so poor that they have no choice but to survive on $5 a day (in contrast to the top 10% of Singaporeans, PAP ministers and Foreign Talents in Singapore who earn over $50,000 a day), Nathaniel Ho attempts this challenge for himself in a bid to empathize with his impoverished fellow Singaporeans.

Why not?

A loaf of Sunshine bread costs $2. It has about 12 slices...Eat 4 slices for breakfast per day. Daily Cost : $0.70

Lunch time, buy a good Bun from Breadshop. Cost : $1.20

Dinner time, Eat a mee kia dry for $3.00

Water is free...go public toilet in shopping mall...tap water is free!

Still Got Savings of 10cents a day!

$5 a day means $150-$200 a month, assuming on some days you cannot tahan and need to buy snacks or dessert. From data gathered in 2013, the median annual income is around $52k, which works about to be about $4000 a month. Even if you are loser and make around $1800 a month, it is still more than enough to have a food budget of around $10 a day, which works out to about $300 - $400 a month, again assuming you exceed your budget once a while.

There's always the option to do intermittent fasting. It is not necessary to have three full meals a day.

Happy SG50 everyone.

Its sad that a first world country like Singapore so many people have to live on $5 a day.in Australia people live on a minimum wage of $130 a day.in certain sectors minimum wage could be as high as $200 a day.the only reason to live in Singapore the shithole is the food.to live on $5 a day might as well live in Malaysia.

This is what Leegime would say to Sinkies. And the Ministar for Health will come up with the health benefits associated with occasional fasting. Our state-controlled media will provide the propaganda.

The person was talking about the bottom 400k people. Why you use median income? Or 1.8k? If I don't remember wrongly, the 4k is median household income and not individual.
