A CABBY was charged on Thursday with a hit-and-run accident in which an elderly pedestrian was killed in April. Tan Hock, 61, allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout while driving along Upper Serangoon Road and hit Madam Lee Kuee Huay, 80, a hawker assistant, who was crossing unlawfully within a pedestrian crossing sometime past midnight on April 25. He is accused of three other charges - failing to stop and failing to render assistance after the accident, as well as removing his vehicle without police authority that day. Tan, whose $10,000 bail was extended, applied for a three-month adjournment as his mother was not well. The case will be mentioned on Sept 24.
