Unlike his dad who simply banged on the table and declared, no means no, yes means yes, LHL didn't know when or whether to say yes or no and submitted the case to the court. He indecisiveness caused the loss of Aljunied GRC to WP. Civil service election duty callups, electoral boundaries redrawing and electoral rolls updating started as early as 2009, then nothing came out of it.

Then another round of callups, redrawing and updating in 2010, still nothing came out of it. Then finally, at the end of the government's term in 2011, there's no choice for him and there's no need for the opposition to guess anymore. Had LHL been decisive enough sometime between 2009 and 2010 to call GE, CSM might not be ready to stand and LTK might not be ready to step out of Hougang SMC into Aljunied GRC so confidently.

BTW, CSM was assigned the Kovan division of Aljunied GRC, the very division that GMS was assigned to in 2006.
