Douglas Slade describes the allegations against him as 'make-believe'
A 74-year-old British man has been arrested in the Philippines in connection with historical sex abuse allegations in the UK.
Douglas Michael Slade was detained by immigration agents at his home in northern Angeles City where he has lived for the past 10 years.
According to Philippine immigration officials, it is alleged Slade molested a 14-year-old boy in the UK.
The pensioner has denied the allegations, saying they are "make-believe" and a "magical fantasy."
Police in Britain say their investigation involves seven complainants - all of whom are now adults - with allegations dating back to the 1970s and 1980s.
Slade is being held at an immigration detention centre while deportation proceedings take place.
Philippine authorities have also raised concerns about Slade, saying he poses "a significant risk and threat to children's wellbeing."
A spokeswoman for the country's immigration bureau said Slade had been arrested in connection with five cases of child abuse and abuse images in Angeles City, but all the charges were dismissed.
