A middle-aged UK national has passed away at an inn in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida. Witnesses told the police that he had been complaining about an illness the night before his death.
Nicholas Yates, 53, was found dead in his room yesterday morning after a witness named I Putu Ardiana Putra, Yates’ assistant, read a text message from the victim at 6:39am lamenting that he was struggling to stand up.
Yates reportedly said in the text message, which was sent around midnight, that he was suffering from headaches and was vomiting all day long. Putu was still asleep when the texts were sent. When he read them in the morning, Putu immediately alerted hotel employees.

“The victim’s body was found in the bathroom. When they checked his pulse, it was already gone,” said Nusa Penida Police Chief Ida Bagus Putra Sumerta.

“The doctors explained that [he suffered] a heart attack.”
Police are still investigating the case and are questioning witnesses per this article’s publication.
