Bomb scare on SIA flight

Both Nanyang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Daily reported that a Singapore Airlines plane flying from Moscow to Singapore had to make an emergency landing in Kolkata, India, after a bomb scare. Nanyang Siang Pau reported that all 265 passengers on board were safe. The Boeing 777-300 was initially denied permission to land in New Delhi because of heightened security for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.

It had to fly for another three hours before being allowed to land in Kolkata. The plane took off from Moscow on Sunday at 7.50pm (local time) and landed at Kolkata Airport at 2.23am Monday. Bomb disposal experts searched the plane but nothing was found. The plane resumed flight at 6.40pm the same day and landed in Singapore at 10.30pm.
