Beautiful Snow Sand Deserts pics

I had been to lots of snow deserts in USA e.g. Arizona Utah California but those in US are usually Rocky deserts. This is a sandy desert.

<p>It is well-known that Transbaikal or Zabaykalsky Krai is a region with snow-capped mountains and huge ice fields to the east of Lake Baikal in Russia. But not many people are aware of the fact that a true desert can be found in the place.</p>

<p>Chara Sands are located in Kalarsky District of Zabaykalsky Krai, the sand band is 10 km long and 5 km wide.</p>

<p>The sands are surrounded by boreal forests and marshes.</p>

<p>Two small lakes are located in the north-eastern part of the place.</p>

<p>Chara Sands were formed during the Zyrian glaciation period as a lake delta at the front zone of the Sakukan glacier, when Chara hollow was filled with water.</p>

This is Russia further north than Mongolia but in the historic time used to be part of China.

Famous poet 苏轼 was banished to this area near the huge lake known in the past as 北海 - 苏武牧羊在北海。

What Do You Think About The Gobi Desert ? Cold ? Hot ?

The Chinese or Mongol desert is a little different. It's the cold, I think. Lots of water is trapped in Himalayas Mts and the dry, cold air sweep into the land turning it into a desert.
