AUSTRALIAN television reporter Peter Lloyd, charged with drug trafficking in Singapore, is doing well, his lawyer said on Friday after a pre-trial hearing of his case.
The 41-year-old Lloyd, a New Delhi-based correspondent for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), has been charged with trafficking 0.15 gram of methamphetamine to a Singaporean at a hotel here.
Lloyd is out on bail but his passport has been impounded. He did not appear in court on Friday.
'He's good,' said lawyer Hamidul Haq, who had a brief pre-trial conference with a district judge and a state prosecutor.
Lloyd also faces charges of possessing and consuming the stimulant methamphetamine as well as possessing drug paraphernalia stained with banned substances.
If convicted of the trafficking charge, Lloyd faces between five and 20 years behind bars and five to 15 strokes of the cane.
