A British teenager charged with inciting a terror attack in Melbourne on Anzac Day and a beheading has appeared in a London court via video-link ahead of a four-week trial scheduled to start in mid-August.

The 15-year-old, appearing from a court in Manchester, did not enter a plea during the short hearing at the Old Bailey in central London.

The UK teenager only spoke to confirm his name, which can't be reported for legal reasons. He was wearing grey trousers, a grey shirt and a black tie.

He is charged with inciting another person to "murder police officers during an attack upon a parade to commemorate Anzac Day in Australia".

The 15-year-old, who is currently in youth custody, is also charged with inciting a person to murder someone in Australia "by beheading".

Justice John Saunders adjourned the case to a date yet to be fixed, when it's expected the defendant will be required to enter a plea.

The fast-tracked trial to be held in Manchester is scheduled to begin on August 17.
