Anti-foreigner sentiment

Perspective

Today was the first time I saw anti-foreigner sentiment in the face.

This was in a MRT train. I did not really know how or why it started, but all of a sudden, a stocky middle-aged man of Indian ethnicity starting yelling at two Filipino women on top of his voice "Pinoy! What photo are you taking! Don't know why you come here for what? Singapore so small, go back to your own country that is so big! Come and squeeze into our trains, don't care what damage you are creating. You want to take photo, I take photo of you." Some words along those lines. The poor Filipino women, one of them was cowed and kept repeating, "Sir, we only here to work". After several repeats the man said "Wow, keep calling me sir! Very clever." After the women left the train, the man called up someone and said "I send you a photo. Help me put up in the forum. We shall have some fun."

I thought to myself that he really sounded like one of the typical SBF forummers.

This anti-foreigner sentiment is worrying. I wonder if the MIW has any sense a huge problem is brewing??
In all fairness how many "bad" FTs have you really come across at your workplace? I find the ah nehs annoying but those employed by my company do have their fair share of talent. Having said that i hear from my colleagues PR and citizenship applications have gotten a lot more complicated with lots of paperwork and long waiting time for any response (one British one ah neh, both managers who'd been here > 5 years).

PAP should just be transparent about how they are tackling the issue instead of having a few stupid MPs coming out to ask people to embrace foreigners.

The PAP govt wants its GDP, economic growth and 5-6 million population, with scant respect for the living conditions of existing Singaporeans. It couldn't care less about social tensions or the potential negative repercussions (e.g. two casinos, how lovely).

If/when a mass riot breaks out and some FTs get publicly lynched, the PAP govt has blood on its hands.

You made your bed, now lie on it.

Like I said before, stupid, myopic population policies are the disease. The massive number of foreigners is only a symptom. It's never about xenophobia. We understand the difference between cause and effect.

Well done to this local Indian chap.. Time for all local Sporeans to make a stand against these invading foreigners.. This incident is not an isolated case.. A year ago, few days before the GE, I witnessed a local Chinese uncle cursing a PRC cyclist to f*ck off back to China after the young PRC nearly knocked into him while he's was walking with his wife on a pavement.. The situation is at a tipping point.. PAP still thinks that everything is rosy on the ground..

The role of the govt is ensure the survival of the citizens. Wise citizens will vote for a government that can fufill this role. Yet the FAP is doing all it can exterminate the citizens and replace them by foreigners in what could be mankind's worst recorded treason. The amazing thing though is that 60% seem to be so brainwashed and blinded that they go along with the Traitors to kill themselves and their future generations.

some have given up and voted with their feet. Not all who left are quitters ...many are valuable and mobile people...the country's loss indeed.

Of all the countries in the world, i am sure no want would have expected Singapore to turn out like that. We are not homogenous in any sense of the word. There are 4 main ethnic groups, with 5 main stream religions. Tolerance is second nature for us. We were founded on trade which means a cosmopolitan hub and we grew to be international.

So what happened?

Push any man hard enough and he will lose it.

Pappies do not walk the ground. Even when they do they have all these por lumpar grassroot fellas sweetening the ground before these 超级白 walks on them.

All problems are hidden from their view so that they can go back and paint a nice picture to gay loong when they're kissing his ass.

As long as they keep getting their pay why should they give a flying fark about how normal singaporeans are getting on?

Spot on bro!!

in the past, we grew up playing at the playground with our malay, indian, eurasian neighbours. We go to the same school, eat at the same canteen. When we went to the army, we stood side by side as brothers, as sons of Singapore.

now, these trash who couldnt find jobs in their country are welcomed here. They do not contribute (and don't make me start on the paying taxes and saving babies instead of serving army shit), expects everything and kpkb when things don't go their way.

my take, if these foreign trash thinks that we don't welcome them, then please fark off. I don't give a flying fark what they think.

we survived many years without influx of these trash and we will survive if they leave.

Most people are not anti-FT as such but are angry at the attendant problems caused by the unbridled intake of FT and the resultant population explosion. Don't think the Govt has put its act together to develop the infrastructure to coop with the influx. We might have been putting unfair blame on MBT for his call for pigeon hole apartments. He could have been caught in the middle of a poorly executed FT policy.

It seems clear that there are only two reasons why the FT issue is as it is today. One is as Lucky Tan had said there was a 20 odd year mis-calibration of the population growth required to address falling TFR. Two is that the Govt is, all along, aware that this population will grow at this rate but has kept this plan from the public using falling TFR as the boogeyman.

In either case it was a poorly executed policy with wide-spread and long term implication. More worrying is the political system in place that has allowed such a critical decision to be so easily made. Did any forummer here know beforehand that the population was going to explode this way?

Yes. I am with you demanding for transparency in how we are going to grow our population (grow if we still want it to grow i.e.). We want the Govt to tell us what plans they have to develop the infrastructure in this population plan and how they intend to resolve the social and pyschological issues of increased crowding.

The population is not going to stop at 5 or 6 million. Mind you, despite so many years of liberal (in fact aided) immigration policy, the TFR has not corrected itself. This means that if we continue to follow the present method of tackling our population, we have only one way of addressing the trend of a greying population which is to grow the population indefinitely. To me this is unsustainable.

I will happily join this local indian to yell at all FTs including new India Indians, Pinoys, Burmese, PRCs and anybody who doesnt speak Singlish or speak English with a foreign accent. I'll tell them they are all parasites and better fuck off from this land they think whose streets are paved with gold. They come here to leech and when they have had enough, they run back to their home origins. Esp those India Indians, I must repeat. I think they are taking over the local Chinese here very soon if we are not careful. I see MSM featuring more Indians and the clown Teo Ho Pin is asking to involve our new Indians more and to invite them into our lives. WTF!
