Japanese Tourism is on the rise thanks to relaxed visa rules and a very low Japanese Yen. In fact, the Yen is now at a 7-year low.
However, the price of tour packages here have not decreased. Instead they have increased 10 to 15% thanks to the higher demand from Singaporeans wanting to travel to Japan.
Golden Travel Services Pte Ltd explained that some of the extra costs involved with the increased demand include buses which are fully rented out in the Japan cities where tours go. As a result, they must hire buses from other cities and bring them in at an extra cost.
Other barriers such as booked flights to Japan also means higher costs for consumers.
Overall, despite the lower Yen, it seems that buying a tour package to Japan is still more expensive than before.
