that's absolutely true.
but more often than not growing up, the teachers were rage centers. If not outwardly and directly, they were passive-aggressive and treated children like dirt because they were in the seat of power. I don't know how it is nowadays, but too many teachers were poor role models back then. Of course you have the few and the brilliant, but too few.
since you brought up the topic, I'm actually not a fan of just counting to ten. As a kid some people would say that and I would try it, but I ended up yo-yoing between counting and getting angry. There has to be more in the sequence. Something like while you're counting to ten think of what harm you can do to yourself and others if you stop and go into a rage. Or think of how unnecessary the anger is. Some conscious thought to go along with an the *ahem* "circuit breaker" count. Blind and dumb counting did nothing much for me except delay the whole thing by 10 seconds...
