I read somewhere here that it is estimated there are about 10% gays in Singapore's population. Taking a more conservative figure of 5%, then PAP stand to lose more than 5% of the gay votes as there are many who are not fundies or bigots. Add the parents and relatives, it could well be more than 10% of the votes across all contested seats.

In the reply to VV's press release, the SDP issued a youtube. In that youtube, SDP questioned VV on the YOG spending and asked VV to release the YOG accounts. VV had spent a huge amount of money and there are a lot of unanswered questions. Previously, Goh Meng Seng of the NSP had done the following youtube to put the YOG spending in perspective to the problems currently faced by Singapore.

Please don't be disappointed. No one is ever that squeaky clean even for those who clothed themselves in white to demonstrate their "purity".
Our objective was to send a message to Vivian Balakrishnan that we are ready to match him, innuendo for innuendo, smear for smear. Our advice to this young man is to keep the politics clean and free from innuendos and personal smears and stick to the issues.
We have no wish for politics in Singapore to go down the Malaysian path. Parents in Malaysia have to hide their newspapers from their children and turn off their radios and televisions in fear of what the next salacious headline or embarrassing sexually-laden political stories will be.

VB has made use of the media to do damages on VW's personal image and indirectly to SDP's as well. The playing field is no longer on level grounds.
