85 arrested in multi-agency operation

SINGAPORE: Police said 85 people were arrested in an operation which ended early Friday morning.
They were arrested for a host of criminal offences including illegal gambling activities, gang-related activities, vice-related activities, peddling contraband cigarettes, as well as immigration and gaming offences.
The operation also uncovered workers working without valid work permits.
The multi-agency effort involved officers from the Singapore Police Force, the Central Narcotics Bureau, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and the Singapore Customs.
Various locations in Geylang and Marine Parade were raided.
Investigations against those arrested are ongoing.
