PAP Community Foundation (PCF), the largest pre-school operator here, is set to raise fees for most of its kindergarten and child care centres from next year.

Explaining that fee increases are needed from time to time to maintain the quality of its programmes, PCF could not say which or how many of its 153 childcare centres and 215 kindergartens will be affected, but explained that current fees and revised fees would “vary across different kindergartens, childcare and infant care centres”.

“Due to our large network of centres, it is also difficult to pinpoint a specified amount of increase due to the variation mentioned,” a spokesperson said. “The increase will affect generally all cohort of students.”

The hike was approved by the authorities in May. Several centres have already informed parents of the new fees, while the PCF will continue to reach out to parents over the rest of the month.

People who sent their children to daycare centres should not be dismayed that their children will one day send them to old folks home as revenge.

I was also a proud graduate of the PAP kindergarten. Back then it was just affordable kindergarten education for the masses. And there was no such thing as daycare: women stayed at home to look after their kids.

I guess priorities have changed after all these years.

Kindergarten fare increase kns....

PAP Community Foundation (PCF), the largest pre-school operator here, is set to raise fees for most of its kindergarten and child care centres from next year.

The hike was approved by the authorities in May this year . Stressing that PCF is committed to keeping fees affordable, it was not revealed that fees would not be raised during GE2015 even though the PAP has already planned to raise it since May.

The spokesperson added that “tandem with increases in our investments in curriculum and learning environment as well as the employment of qualified teachers who continue to receive on-going profession development”.

“Such increases are also needed to defray rising operational costs, most notably in the salary costs of preschool staff,”

it is still unknown how much would the fees be raised to but a letter to parents from PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Nanyang Blk 922 on revised fees — which was has been circulating online since last week — showed that from next year, K2 fees will be increase to as much as S$617.90 a month for Singapore citizens which can be quite expensive for lower income family. Permanent residents (PRs) will hand to pay S$765 while foreigners would pay S$926.80.

When those kids grow up, they'll do this:

Then get married, have kids, and the cycle repeats.

In the first place, political parties should NOT be allowed to open educational institutions.
Neither should they be allowed to take part in National Day parades.

Re: Kindergarten fare increase kns....

Why CPIB never investigate how PAP, a registered non profit political party can start its own kindergarten business? Not just any kindergarten business, but the largest one in SIngapore. You telling me that when they charge so high kindergarten fees, they are are not making money? If its set up as a charitable foundation, why not give it free to needy kids or charge some nominal sum? MOE kindergarten in Punggol charge $370 per month. Nanyang kindergarten is $1800 per term. So like that is there paka paka between MOE and PAP? Does PAP tell MOE not to open any kindergartens in the areas that they want to build. I notice that many PCF kindergartens are in locations where there is no other competition. If PCF build their own kindergartens, and they have 87 of them, does that mean that MOE quietly let them do this business? Shouldn't MOE be the ones having 87 kindergartens in the locations that PCF are in? PCF reported $1.6 million in profit last year, and $942K the year before. They make money every year and have build up a $16 million revenue reserve!! WTF This piece of PAP shit org is registered as a charity foundation? WP, where are you? Time to ask these questions, no?
