$3,000 fine for illegal posters

<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A FORMER acupuncturist was fined a total of $3,000 on Monday for putting up banners of escaped terrorist Mas Selamat Kastari. Zeng Guoyuan, 55, was found guilty by District Judge Jasbendar Kaur of the three charges after a five-day trial. He was convicted of fixing a notice featuring a picture of militant Mas Selamat with the words 'DEAD'' against the wall of a premises at Tai Tong Crescent on March 20 last year. He was also found to have, without lawful authority, hung a banner on a rod featuring a picture of the former Internal Security Department detainee outside the common corridor of Block 69 Toa Payoh Lorong 4 on Dec 22, and attaching a banner to a rolled up blind featuring a charge sheet against himself seven days later. He said he wanted to appeal. Zeng is also claiming trial to three other charges which have been adjourned to Dec 23 for a pre-trial conference.
