Man steals from call girl, blackmails her

AFTER having sex with a prostitute, not only did Allan Khoo Wenbo decide not to pay her, but he also stole her mobile phone and sent her a threatening text message.
The 24-year-old unemployed science graduate had engaged the services of the 21-year-old student who was working part-time as a call girl on July 6 last year.
He had used the identity card of another man to check into Hotel 81 on Bencoolen Street that afternoon.
A district court heard that while the woman was having a shower, Khoo rummaged through her handbag and noted down her particulars and address.
After she came out, they had sex.
Shortly after, when she asked if he could take her on a holiday, he became angry and decided not to pay her.
While she was in the shower a second time, he went through her belongings and stole an $800 Samsung mobile phone, one of two phones in her bag. He then left the room and sent her a text message, threatening to expose a 'video and stuff' if she did not give him $3,000 by the next day.
When the woman saw the text messages, she was afraid that Khoo would damage her reputation as her family members did not know about her work as a prostitute.
She tried calling him but to no avail. She then lodged a police report.
Yesterday, District Judge Jasbendar Kaur sentenced Khoo to nine months' jail for criminal intimidation, using another person's identity card, and having 86 obscene videos at home.
He was also charged with intruding into a woman's privacy, after he secretly videotaped a former girlfriend and him having sex at his grandfather's house last year.
Five other charges were taken into consideration.
The judge said most of the offences were premeditated.
She added that the facts and charges seemed to suggest a pattern of criminal conduct.
