16-year-old arrested for housebreaking, theft

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy for committing break-ins at houses located at Thomson Hills Drive and Sembawang Hills Drive.
They said several cases of break-ins were reported along Thomson Hills Drive from December 25, 2012 to January 1, 2013. The suspect had stolen cash amounting to over S$800 on three separate occasions by climbing through unsecured windows.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive inquiries and they managed to establish the suspect's identity.
On January 3, at about 1.30pm, the suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.
Follow up investigations indicate that he was also responsible for a similar break-in committed on January 2, 2013, at a unit located along Sembawang Hills Drive where cash and a watch were stolen. Police have since recovered the stolen watch.
The suspect will be charged in court on January 5 for housebreaking and theft by night. The penalty is a maximum 14 year jail term.
