Armoured troop carriers belonging to Singapore and currently impounded in Hong Kong should be "melted down", China's influential state-run tabloid the Global Times said on Tuesday, in its second swipe at the island nation in two days.

"Singapore's image in China is now so rotten that ordinary Chinese people think the best thing to do with the 'confiscated' armoured vehicles that 'walked right into our trap' is to send them to the steel mills to be melted down," it said.

I don't understand why China must go all out to embarrass and humiliate Singapore to such an extend. Giving face is a kind of respect in Chinese culture.
Even when gangsters go around intimidate people, they know that they must provide a way-out to offer closure and not force people into a corner to avoid retaliation.

Why should China give face when LHL has been joking abt China and commenting unnecessarily?

Because Sinkieland cannot shut up but keep on pushing SCS issue in numerous region conferences despite China stating they only want 1-2-1 negotiation with the involved countries (in which Singapore is not one).

And the fact that Singapore kept harping on the Arbitration at the International Court of Justice on SCS when China openly say they will ignore it. Do remember that all the major powers (especially United States) have ignored UN or international court numerous issues throughout history.

Wait u are talking like PRCs need singapore more than Singapore needs PRCs,the fact that PRCs outnumber even sinkies in singapore shows how insignificant sg is in the grand scale of the universe.the 1 million PRC in sg represents less than 0.1% of China's population.and remember all the 7 million Malaysian Chinese and 3m sinkie Chinese once came from China too.

It's not just a handful of Ang Mohd coming here sitting in some cushy expat job pretending to contribute to our economy.these PRCs literally power our economy.
