It is normal to have variation in blood pressure throughout the day, depending on the activity you perform just before you take the blood pressure. Your emotions may also affect the blood pressure readings.
The most reliable way to gauge whether a person has low or high blood pressure is to monitor it over a period of time, at various times of the day (including sleeping time), keep a record and then study the results. To be able to do this is to put a blood pressure reader on the body (usually the arm) over a period of days, monitor and then see. Of course, for most people, this is not possible. So best way is to monitor the blood pressure over a period of time by :
a taking the blood pressure at specified time of each day, maybe two or three times a day, once in morning, once in afternoon and once at night;
b before taking the blood pressure, ensure that you have some time for body and emotions to quieten down, that is, body at rest for some time, best after 30 to 60 minutes at rest. Reason - sitting down or walking around will vary the readings, so best to set a certain standard of measurement, that is, body at rest for 30 to 60 minutes.
c monitor the blood pressure over a period of time, then from recorded readings, can determine if the body is having low or high blood pressure.
A person's blood pressure can be affected by various factors, the chief of which is always, what you eat. Meats, eggs, etc normally raise the blood pressure while certain fruits and vegetables, when taken over a period of time, will help to maintain or reduce the blood pressure. Besides, the person's medical, health history, lifestyle, daily activities, will also affect the blood pressure readings - the fact that the person has a history or heart, kidney, liver or whatever problems will affect the blood pressure readings.
Specifically, low blood pressure in a person can be due to many factors as mentioned above, diet, lifestyle, etc. Best to find out the cause of the low blood pressure and then set treatment or lifestyle changes, medication, accordingly. For example, some cancer patients with treatment over their head, neck region will after a few years find blood pressure becoming lower. This is due to radiation or treatment affecting the pituitary glands, thyroid or blood vessels. Over time the effects lead to the body having low blood pressure.
Left untreated, low blood pressure can be life threatening. Besides feeling dizzy, low blood pressure may affect supply of oxygen, nutrients distribution to all parts of the body. Too low blood pressure may even trigger a heart or organ damages, stoppage.
TS, best to go find medical advice on your low blood pressure and how best to cope with it. It may involve diverse fields of medical testing from endocrine to diabetic, kidney, heart, etc. Find out early what are the issues, what are the problems and treat them early. Best health can then be maintained, rather than wait till some major symptoms appear.....
The whole process may take some time and involve some costs, but it is better to know early and seek relief/resolution rather than having the situation get worse and affecting even the emotions.
Good day and may you find some way to resolve your blood pressure concerns....
