Do not expect a Jap to do anything authentic. They're the masters of copy and adapt. Look at Jap pasta, Jap beef steak, Jap ice-cream, Jap la mian (ramen), Jap chocolate, Jap tea ceremony, etc – all borrowed from foreign sources but modified and adapted to suit Japanese tastes.

Nothing wrong with that, but if you think this stall is going to serve the real mee pok fare, you'll be sorely mistaken. It's just a publicity gimmick: he'll cater to the Jap expats here, and then maybe franchise it back home in Japan and retire rich.
