paiseh, educate me a bit.

the f16 rsaf are for ground pounding or interceptor?

f5e2 all sell to Taiwan or put in reserves?

RSAF F-16 is both fighter interceptor and also used as ground attack. It depends on the target, the mission, etc.

F-5E is still in service with 144 and 149 Squadron. I believe that non were sold to Taiwan as Taiwan is looking to sell their own F-5Es. But a joint venture was done between us and the Taiwanese for the upgrades to the RF-5E. But the RSAF F-5E will be phased out. Not sure if they will be put in storage, usually MINDEF policy is to demil the planes and sell them to private collectors. The Hawker Hunters went that way. Also the older batch of F-16A/Bs were given free to Thailand. Its just no place to store them and also expensive as they need to be stored in humidity controlled environments.

Given free to Thailand?
Wow, may be that facilitated the extension of training agreement(s) in Thailand.

From a news article:

On November 18th, 2004 it was announced that Thailand was to receive the remaining 7 RSAF F-16A/B's (3 Alpha models and 4 Bravo models). They were all handed over in the course of January 2005. Instead of a standard purchase between two governments, these airframes are donated by the government of Singapore to the Thai Air Force. In return the RSAF can train on the Thai air base of Udon Thani a number of days each year.
