Irving Choh is the founder of Optimus Chambers LLC. He is a lawyer with over 22 years of experience.
Irving has had an illustrious career spanning over a decade with established and well-known large local firms.
He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1994 after graduating from the University of Buckingham, U.K. in 1991. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1992.
At Optimus Chambers LLC, Irving is the Managing Director and works with two other partners of eleven and seven years legal standing respectively. His practice spans across many areas of law, ranging from civil litigation, matrimonial practice to criminal work. Although predominantly a litigator, Irving now has expanded his practice to include corporate and conveyancing matters and his team and support staff are diligent and capable enough to ensure that the firm develops and thrives in these areas of practice.
Irving is well-known figure in the Family Courts, having conducted numerous divorce cases. Many of his cases have been reported in Singapore law reports, and the list thereof is too long to enumerate.
Irving’s strengths do not stop at family cases. He has conducted many commercial cases and even construction cases. These cases have too been reported in Singapore law reports. Irving has also represented many clients in criminal cases, most notably where he represented successfully one of the directors of Amcol Holdings Ltd in 1999, as well as one of the earliest racist blogging cases in 2006. Needless to say, his cases are often featured in the press for their good results and interesting fact scenarios.
Irving is an accredited associate mediator in Family Law with the Singapore Mediation Centre. He has jointly published a book, The Law of Injunctions in Singapore (Sweet & Maxwell), which is referred to by many a legal practitioner. He sits as an independent director on A-Sonic Aerospace, a company listed on the main board of SGX and is also the Chairman of Serrano Holdings Limited, which is listed on the SGX Catalyst Board.
Irving’s passion lies in toy collecting. He is a serious collector of action figures and statues, especially of Transformers, Star Wars and Marvel origin. He dabbles a little in cooking (alas, explaining his size) but will never open a restaurant. He may venture into operating a toy shop in the future – of course, should money and time permit.
