The system breaks down so often, its feels like like living in a third world country.
The worst part is that the government that is supposed to deliver an efficient public transport (and boast all the time that its first world) fine the train operators and pocket the money without distributing it to the passengers that suffer damages!
By right the passengers should be compensated for disruptions to their travel -why should the govt keep the money.?
How about the COE payments and ERP charges that are levied on commuters to encourage them to take public transport-where does it go to?
It should rightfully be utilised to subsidise public transport-yet you see the train/ bus and taxi operators declaring profits (until recently for SMRT)
The frequent breakdown is also a reflection of the failure of the LTA (and the Minister in charge)- to ensure preventive measures are put in place eg regular changes to the sleeper, wiring , signalling systems ect2. Where is the accountability?
Time to vote wisely
