According to Lianhe Wanbao, a seventh name has entered the fray of the City Harvest Church scandal.

The name Dua Poh Teng has been mentioned in 11 charges faced by three of the accused.

Ms Dua, who is an assistant accountant, was said to have been asked to produce false accounts. A lawyer contacted by the newspaper said that technically, anyone mentioned in any charges can be charged or summon as witness.

When a reporter from the newspaper visited Ms Dua’s home at Punggol East, she was not at home. However, her mother-in-law, a 56-year-old housewife known only as Madam Cai, was around at that time.

According to Madam Cai, Ms Dua has left her post two years ago and is no longer working for the church. She said that family members are aware of the case through the media and they believe Ms Dua is not involved. She added that she is not aware that Ms Dua’s name was mentioned in the charges.

In the meantime, Serina Wee, another name that has been mentioned in the charges, but has yet to be formally charged, is said to have hired a lawyer to represent her.

The City Harvest Church has released a statement supporting the five people charged in the case.

According to the statement, “The Crossover Project is not about one person's singing career; it is a mission that is fundamental to the congregation of CHC. The Crossover Project is an outreach that uses Sun Ho's singing and music to engage people and places that would never otherwise hear the Gospel.”

Lianhe Wanbao has also reported that the eleven people who are embroiled in the case have opened over 40 companies, 13 of which are connected to each other.

According to Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority’s (ACRC) records, the eleven people are linked to over 40 companies as owner, shareholder, director or secretary. 13 of these companies are interconnected with at least two people from the group holding key appointments.

Kong Hee, Ho Yeow Sun, Wahju Hanafi and Jacqueline Tan were directors of fashion boutique Skin Couture, while Ho Yeow Sun, Lam Leng Hung, Kelvin Teo and Tan Ye Peng served as directors of Kosmos Global Private.

On 1 July, Lianhe Wanbao reported that over 20,000 people attended three weekend mass sessions held by City Harvest Church.

Around 9,000 people attended the service held at 5pm on Saturday at the Singapore Expo by Kong Hee - his first since he was charged.

His wife Ho Yeow Sun and the other four charged in the case were present as well.

Around 9,000 people attended the 10am Sunday morning service at the Singapore Expo, led by Kong Hee and his wife as well.

At the same time, around 2,000 people turned up for the mass session held by Tan Ye Peng at Jurong West Street 91.

At each of the session, Kong Hee was on stage for 50 minutes, during which his wife Ho Yeow Sun would sometimes share the stage with him. He continues to hold faith and shared his feelings over the incidents of the past few days.

He is said to have told the church-goers that the past few days have been difficult for him and his family, that there are always two sides to things and he would explain himself in court one day.

He added that he will not be able to participate in certain church activities the next few weeks as he has to settle certain matters.

Kong Hee is due back in court on 25 July.

Hopefully, they are not underling scapegoats to be sacrificed in order to let the real criminals go scot free.
