Since August 2011, on the third Saturday of every month at Block 544, Bedok North Street 3, volunteers and donors from Clubs Fullerton would work alongside volunteers from Kaki Bukit division under the care of MP Faisal for the monthly welfare packs distribution exercise. Each month, there would be about 10 to 15 sponsored food items and these items would be packed into large red plastic bags to be given out to needy recipients in three different wards (Kaki Bukit, Eunos & Bedok Reservoir-Punggol). Residents who requires food assistance would visit the respective Meet-the-People sessions to register. Dedicated volunteers in the respective teams welfare team would pay them a visit to ascertain their needs. Such needs-based and targeted assistance has enable the various MPs to do more with less. A big thanks to voluntary welfare organisations such as Lions Club Fullerton for their kindness and generosity. Collaboration between the various stakeholders at the grassroots level is much appreciated.

Hearing mixed views/responses to the new Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps. Its a belated start, but a start nonetheless. Yes, the duration pales next to the 12 years NSmen put it in. But in view of the large number of new citizen approvals each year (and the even higher number over the last ten plus years), it is important that such initiatives are launched to ensure new citizens serve to the same extent as Singaporeans do. Like with all new initiatives, I anticipate it will take some time to build upon and improve. In view of our large foreign population numbers, better to have some avenue for service, than not have anything at all. The service durations will hopefully increase with time in concert with Singapore's national identity and nationhood imperatives.

The more important issue is what is a country? What define a country besides the physical land? What are we defending besides the land?
What is the soul and spirit of this country Singapore? What is our way of life?

May I make the following suggestions and/or corrections for you to consider:
1. Kaki Bukit Division - capital letters because it is a specific Division
2. given to - because out as in given out, is redundant
3. Residents who require (plural Residents should be require rather a singular resident requires)
4. attend versus visit (it appears to me that when you use "visit", you are possibly translating from Chinese)
5. Collaboration amongst the various stakeholders ( I assume that there are more than 2 stakeholders since you used "various", otherwise "collaboration between stakeholders [2 stakeholders is correct] )
