HongKong and Singapore

HongKong has progressed as well as Singapore in most areas. In some areas, HongKong has surpassed and excelled better than Singpore.

But Donald Tsang gets a fraction of what LHl gets and the other leaders get far less than SG Ministers. What's more telling is that Hongkees' lives are better than Sinkees'. And there are so much more freedom, human rights and workers' rights in HongKong than Singapore.

So which govt is better? For me, HongKong's govt is far better than the pap.

Singaporeans are getting poor returns for the money it pays the pap..Time to vote out the pap in the next GE?

Just some examples:

1. HK govt didnt lie to the people.
2. HK govt didnt persecute its people and jail them for being anti Donald Tsang.
3. HK govt is transparent, accountable to the people and didnt tell them.."it's good for you to know, but you dont need to know".
4. HK govt doesnt discriminate its own people and favour foreigners.
5. HK govt doesnt compel its male citizen to do NS and make them be storemen for F1 races
6. HK govt didnt tell its people that "it's deaf to valid criticisms"
7. HK govt didnt scold its own people and called them names
8. HK's cost of living is lower than SG
9. HK is first, USA second, UK third, SG fourth.. declared the World Economic Forum...(go find out what's this all abt)
10. HK's govt gives much better value for money than PAP govt.
11. HK has an old age pension scheme

On the other hand, HK has the backing of China. She does not have to bother about Military, Trade etc. China is able to provide these to HK and HK does not have to think about long term survival.

Cannot really do direct comparison between the governments of Singapore and Hong Kong although both entities have alot in common -Chinese majority port city. Singapore achieved self government in 1959 and gained independence in 1965 while Hong Kong was a British colony until July 1997. So self rule by Hongkongers deciding their own future and destiny is only a very recent thing...

I live and still working in HK for number of years.
Have you heard about the China mainland mothers giving birth to HK and all the citizens has to fork out the taxes? These children gets all the benefits equivalent to a citizen for the rest of the life.
Also are you aware that if a maid got pregnant in HK, the employer will need to take care of the maid till she gives birth.
Reason: the HK government is kowtowing to the mainland!

So before you guys do comparison..are you aware of this?

Thanks..good point. Looks like you allso think that HK govt is better than SG's PAP. Why then are Singaporeans paying such obscene salaries to poor PAP performances?

hk = one big university ; singporee= a single class of primary one.
which one is easier to run and control ?
if teacher says to primary kid " you do as i say or i cane you" , kid will be obedient , right?
if dean says that to uni student , he get a rebuttal right away.

good points again. With China, it's both a boon and a bane.

SG is located in an area where there is little competition. HK is situated in an area where people are dynamic hungry and intelligent. it''s not easy competing against Shanghai, etc. HK has to be astute, dynamic, pragmatic, etc to survive such competitions. On the contrary, SG has little competition in this part of SE Asia. So being close to China has its pros and cons.

HK will continue to survive well. In 50yrs, will there be a Singapore? what will happen to Singaporeans? With the pap policies, I suspect that in 50yrs time, SG will be a playground for rich and famous foreigners served by poor, neglected and marginalised Singaporeans.

Unless Singaporeans wake up and realise what's ahead of them and change the pap, we are doomed
