These 7 WP masketeers (with $15,000 a month pay checks MPs) are keeping quite in this EP election.

Silence is not golden in this case. It is either they are 'for it' or 'againt it' on any of the candidates? This is national issue and an important event only happen every 6 years!

Either they show your fangs now to support one of the candidates, like PAP did to TT, and not act dumb or selfish in this time of hustling.

After is over WP (an all Oppo paries leaders) shall lose the people's respect for keeping quite and act like 'blur kings' and jiak leow bee. Surely they can do their parts in this hustling period which PAP had done to support TT.

Though they call to abolish it but it can only be done with a strategy which is to put a non-PAP EP in first. That will land the ball in PAP feet to kick the ball back. Talk only is good like act blur in this time of hustling!

Even if the 7 WP MPs cho boh lan and keep quite for next 5 years, it is perfectly fine with me.
Just their presence in parliament is more important.
Please look at the big picture than grudge about their allowances.

It shows more strength understanding one self position and sticks to it. Make noise for the sake of making noise is not necessarily the right way if MAJORITY of Singaporeans are not identifying with that.

It is no coincidence or flute that WP won Aljunied GRC as compared to NSP, SDP or RP.

WP, to their credit, knows that this EP is nonsense. Parliament is the sole executive power and the idea of presidents stumbling playing prime minister around mocks parliament. Even the Queen and Bhumibol know not to butt in.

Parliament is the legislative arm of government, cabinet is the executive. The constitutional president should only have the power to appoint the president after an election or a successful motion of no-confidence, and even so are bound by strict custom. This stupid idea of the custodial president was dreamt up by an insecure aging tyrant in the early 1990s. Entrusting so much custodial powers in one person is just stupid.

If they were serious about it, we should be voting in the council of presidential advisors to advise a ceremonial president.

Back to the point. WP has held the above position from the start, and is sticking to their guns. For me, I think the only way for a PAPzi government to get rid of the EP is for someone like TJS to win. WP probably sees themselves having a much larger presence in government soon, so that they can influence the abolition.
