Such need not happen. The insignificant nobody me had thought that perhaps a central dedicated entrepreneur organization would be a solution to monitor the life signs of our elderly. Singapore owes it success to many of our forefathers, & we had became a civilization that leaves no one behind. Ultimately, the heroes of yesterdays will only aged, & with agedness comes seemingly abandonment, more so when each citizen or family have their own homes & are not homeless...
Maybe, my concept of monitoring life signs of our elderly can be de-centralized thru constituencies managed by Elected legislators, regardless of what political party they belong to, as the data of 79,000 elderly living alone is spread out throughout Singapore.
Elected legislators DO have heavy responsibilities to manage their constituencies, but leadership is NOT about doing all alone. Responsibilities CAN be delegated to others so long as there are oversights & accountabilities from chosen deputies of departments. Another concern are costs & each cent collected is precious & meant for EVERYONE within the constituencies for services.
However, I had shown that for just $10/mth, it is possible to monitor the life signs of our elderly, even without use of AI.
1. Whatsapp is one of the most widely used app in Singapore. It shows messages sent & even shows if it is read. Grassroots leaders can assign a small team to use Whatsapp to monitor for those whom subscribe to such service daily. The costs:-
a) with just one Human monitoring station on a phone with Whatsapp, & with a mere 1000 subscribers, it would be $10,000/mth, which will be enough for the the salary of the monitor, with leftover to be added to the treasury of the constituencies for other uplifting purposes.
b) To build up the subscription volumes, most MP does walkabouts or have meet the people sessions, which are OPPORTUNITIES to find out whom are the single elderlies or even the single young with health issues that would need such a service, & being the biggest INFLUENCERS in our Nation, they would be able to get others whom may know of singles that would be attracted to such a service, to recommend.
c) Negligence would be a concern, but if details are worked out, it need not happen. The subscriber only needs to give his/her smart phone number with Whatsapp already installed, his/her photo, name & next of kin or assigned social worker for contact. Should the app shows no response from the individual within 24hrs, next of kin or social service contactee would be called to attend to the issue, or at worse - our SPF to pay a visit to his/her home or talk to neighbours as they have the authority to do so.
d) Such a plan can be scaled up should there be a high volume for such service without incurring additional or rising of costs. It will need the use of AI coding to cut down on manpower strengths, increase only slightly on Human monitors as well as data servers, which will come from the high volume of subscriptions. A mere 10,000 subscribers based upon $10/mth equates to $100,000/mth or $1.2million a year.
e) For tech entrepreneurs whom would like to earn a living thru honest social services & dedicated centralization, this plan can be enhanced, perhaps at a slightly higher costs, thru the use of innovative life signs appliances, such as watch, robots, etc. Health will be an important issue as most of Nations are facing rise in greying populations.
