Madam Jintana Sae Ueng, a Thai national, who had entered Singapore on a social visit pass , had been approached by her client, Edmund Peter Anthony, 34, an assistant restaurant manager, at Orchard Hotel on October 14, and they agreed a price of $80 for oral sex. Their first attempt was unsuccessful, however, as they were attacked by ants, so Edmund suggested they go back to his apartment to conclude the arrangement. They duly did so, but he decided to extend his requirements by having actual sex. Whilst they were in the act, Edmund, suddenly decided he needed to go to the toilet, but Jintana wanted to finish fast and meet her Thai construction worker-boyfriend for supper.
Undeterred , Edmund insisted on relieving himself and afraid Madam Ueng would either escape or steal something, he tied up her wrists and ankles as she lay face-down on the bed, finally gagging her with a piece of cloth, to stop her screaming and went off to the toilet.
Edmund Peter Anthony was given the maximum fine of $500..
Anthony had paid $5,000 to the woman's husband as a sign of his deep regret and remorse over the whole incident.
He could have been jailed for up to one month and fined.
